My Gran had never been happy with my decision, but it was something that I had been inspired to do since I was a kid. I saw soldiers in the parades; heads up and chest out, their pride to serve in view.
Looking back on that, I’d still go in, no matter what. Again, I knew what I was getting into no matter how many times I kicked myself out there on the front lines. I’ve seen friends and enemies alike be delivered by so many idols. At times while we sat there in the hole, I’d envy them and think on taking my own life. Yet I didn’t.
Charlie was one of the guys I’d been with through it all. We stuck with each other, through the good and bad. I think he was one of the reasons why I didn’t die sooner. I suppose the same could be said for him as well.

Forever Immortal Prologue
Our world is just like yours, only we see when death comes from us. We’re not sure if Heaven is really a place or not; the same could be said for Hell as well. We only see each other fall and watch as they are carried into the beyond.
You see, everyone has their own form of death. Sometimes it’s a person in a hood, or even a skeleton. Other times it’s an angel or a holy symbol of some kind. Rarely it will be the very people we have seen pass ourselves. Once your deliver has carried you up out of sight, you can no longer save them. There is no CPR or needles or medicine to save you. Not even praying.
